Remote Gate Access using RFID, Cellular, and Solar Power

An independent oil and natural gas company required an integrated solution to control entry to this out-of-the-way location and remove the need for an on-site gate guard. CellGate installed an integrated solution using an LR-6 PRO long-range RFID reader and MarkTag for hands-free AVI and access. This eliminated the delay and lines of vehicles caused by drivers of large trucks having to climb down, walk to the keypad, enter the code, and return to their trucks.

The complete solution allows for identification and verification of each truck entering the property using the CellGate WIM1000—a Wiegand access control system—and two cellular cameras that take a license plate and overall picture for each vehicle. The access information and pictures are transmitted over cellular to CellGate servers, allowing the entire system to be controlled and managed over the internet.

“The site is extremely remote. The gate entrance is 30’ wide and there are a number of types of vehicles entering from cars to 18-wheelers,” said Noel Gouldin, founder and CEO of CellGate. “The property owner is extremely security conscious and the company wanted to be able to monitor activity from their offices over 150 miles away. Using TagMaster with CellGate provides real-time information on every vehicle entering. The customer was so pleased with the system that they added two more identical systems for other gates at this property.”
