Summary
NUEVO LEON, MEXICO – Monterrey International Airport (MTY) serves up to 5 million passengers per year, and is considered one of the most modern airports in North America. TagMaster North America partnered with two Mexican security and parking systems providers to implement a successful RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) AVI (Automatic Vehicle Identification) solution to address MTY’s taxi and shuttle management challenges.
Challenge
MTY hosts an enormous amount of taxi and shuttle traffic on a daily basis. Prior to installing the TagMaster solution, it was difficult to keep unauthorized taxis in check. Airport authorities at MTY searched for a solution that would only allow authorized taxis and shuttles into the passenger pick-up area, providing customers safe and reliable ground transportation.
Solution
Now, each authorized taxi is equipped with a TagMaster Tag, which is read by a TagMaster reader and then logged and time stamped, allowing quick and secure access into the passenger area. Unauthorized taxis are kept out, at no cost to the efficiency of MTY’s ground transportation system. As a result, both the airport authorities and taxi operators can provide the highest level of customer satisfaction.
Conclusion
Monterrey International Airport can now more completely and accurately monitor its fleet of authorized taxis and shuttles, while at the same time ensuring that unauthorized vehicles are automatically refused entry. This results in heightened security, efficiency, and customer satisfaction for the entire airport.
