Summary

JACKSON, MS – The Baptist Medical Center (BMC), with a 639 bed capacity, has been serving the local community for over a century with its unique brand of comprehensive and compassionate health care services.

Challenge

Deceptively simple, the “clickers” used by doctors and staff for decades presented a host of thorny problems: parking operations were not managed effectively with such devices, and management did not have the ability to track, monitor, control, and manage parking usage, or mitigate infractions as needed; traffic flow and parking availability were compromised, particularly in peak conditions; security was easily breached, since anyone with a device operating on the same frequency could gain entry to the parking facilities; and devices could easily be distributed to friends, family, and unauthorized staff.

Solution

TagMaster North America, in partnership with Security Support Services, deployed seven TagMaster LR-Series Readers and integrated them with the existing gate system over a short six-week period. 700 MarkTag Classic Tags were distributed to doctors for use with the new platform.

Conclusion

With the implementation of TagMaster Readers and Tags, BMC security is now able to effectively and efficiently track, monitor, control, and manage parking usage. Additionally, security has improved dramatically, as only vehicles with valid TagMaster Tags are able to gain access to the reserved section of the two parking lots. Due to the speed of entry and exit facilitated by the TagMaster RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) AVI (Automatic Vehicle Identification) solution, traffic flow is smoother, doctors experience improved convenience and are able to report to duty more promptly and with considerably less stress.
