Summary

WYNNEWOOD, PA – Lankenau Medical Center is one of the region’s most respected acute care hospitals and a leader in heart, lung, and vascular care. As part of large expansion, which included a new pavilion and updated laboratories, Lankenau Medical decided to include 1300 new parking spaces for patients and visitors. They turned to the technology of TagMaster North America, the leading provider of RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) AVI (Automatic Vehicle Identification) to handle this immense challenge.

Challenge

The Center’s parking garages feature ten entry and ten exit points, requiring that a successfully implemented AVI platform be able to clearly distinguish between vehicle lanes. The potential buildup of carbon emissions in the garages, caused by long vehicle queues, was also a concern. The Center needed a solution that would accommodate both contract parkers and pay parkers, with automated express lanes as well as seven pay stations, and be able to maintain a real-time connection with the Bryn Mawr Hospital campus, several miles away.

Solution

TagMaster North America, in partnership with Scheidt & Bachmann, deployed twenty LR-6 Pro Long-Range Readers along with S1255 MarkTag Classic Tags. Without the need to insert an access card or code, or even lower the window of the vehicle, TagMaster’s system eliminates delays caused by congestion and reduces carbon emissions in Lankenau’s parking garages.

Conclusion

Lankenau Medical Center’s parking operations are now managed more efficiently, conveniently, and securely than ever, and maintain a live connection to the Bryn Mawr campus. Care providers are able to focus on the challenge of their jobs, without experiencing unneeded hassle and stress in their daily parking routines.
