The Future is here – are you ready?
TagMaster’s Long-Range RFID Readers can be used in an almost infinite number of ways, such as identifying vehicles, a position or an object and can trigger many different actions like opening a gate or turning on a light. This is also a solution that has been deployed for the fast-growing autonomous vehicle market in the agricultural and industrial sectors.
One particular area where using Long Range RFID-solutions is common and very beneficial is within warehouses and on industrial vehicles. The purpose is to open different kinds of doors and barriers, but also to prevent unauthorized vehicles from accessing restricted areas. TagMaster’s readers have unique, built in, functionality to work in complex industrial environments together with other radio based equipment.
One particular application area where using Long Range RFID-solutions is common and very beneficial, is for logistics applications where speed and having high speed doors open and close quickly while accurately managing the vehicles and tracking their traffic in and out of the doors. A big benefit of using the long-range RFID for these applications is that it prevents unauthorized people from accessing restricted areas and enables efficient, convenient, and secure handling of cargo and goods. Yet another purpose might be to avoid long queues and unnecessary emissions at the gates of industrial plants, with vehicles waiting to enter or leave.
Another solution could be having dual or singular readers above near the high speed roll up door to allow the forklift or vehicle into the facility. This is also something that has been deployed for autonomous vehicles. By having visibility on their access history, you can understand their time on station and within different sectors. In addition, having the RFID solution in place ensures a greater level of safety as the near 100% accuracy ensures vehicles that are allowed access are quickly let in and those who are not will not be granted access.
In the above image you can see that a reader is mounted to the side of the forklift/vehicle as it drives by with the cargo it tracks the forklift, and the cargo container it is pulling.
As the world continues to change and evolve, reducing the risk to people and equipment will ensure an increased demand for gateless and autonomous vehicles and most importantly the tracking and management of these operations.
